We currently have 30 hour weekly minimums for the nanny and domestic openings that we are able to place in this competitive market. To move forward successfully in starting a search through our agency, your family must be able to employ the candidate you hire for a minimum of 30 hours a week, each week. If you do not have at least 30 hours of a need for a nanny each week, we suggest adding House Management hours if needed. We also do not place any split shift or live-in positions.

Typical light household duties include: The children’s laundry and changing their sheets weekly, prepping the children’s food and feeding the children, washing or putting away dishes, etc., sanitizing bottles, toys, and surfaces, stock diapers and other items, and emptying diaper pail as needed. (Nannies do not perform any heavy house cleaning duties)

Legal Pay Rate Offered Per Hour? *

Average hourly pay in Charlotte and the Carolinas is $25.00 – $32.00+ per hour, depending on expectations, number of children, duties, and expertise. We require all nannies and domestic employees to be paid legally by W-2 payment. 1099’s are illegal in the industry. Also, nannies and domestic employees must be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours in one work week (please calculate the hourly rate accordingly). For your convenience, we have partnered with nanny and domestic payroll companies to help you facilitate paying your nanny and domestic employee legally. This will ensure all parties are tax compliant. *Please note that we do not provide tax or legal advice. Please reach out to a payroll service, your accountant, or attorney, to go over tax compliance.*

All Nannies and Domestic Candidates we place require the following minimum benefits: two weeks of paid time off, 3 paid sick days, paid major holidays, continued pay while family is away, and paid mileage (Driving on the job, not to and from work) or nanny car to drive on the job, and a annual performance based bonus. Health benefits or stipend, and a 401 k are optional benefits, but a plus if you are able to offer any of those benefits as well.

All of Our Nanny and Domestic Candidates

• Pass our extensive pre-screening: Including providing a Resume and documents, completing a one on one interview with a placement specialist, and submitting verifiable references.
• Have at least 1-3 years of prior nanny, childcare, or in-home domestic experience (On average most of the nanny and domestic candidates we place have 3-5 years’ experience).
• Have a college degree or equivalent experience (some candidates have also taken childcare education courses)
• Have reliable transportation to get to and from work each day, and transport children as needed.
• Must be CPR/AED and First Aid Certified prior to starting their position.
• Candidates pass a reference check: All candidates we refer go through a reference check conducted in house by the Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency_?
• Pass a National, county by county criminal and civil background Check, driving record check, social security verification, sexual offender registry check, and security watch list search. The background check is completed as close to hiring as possible, once a contingent job offer is made, and the family is given the full completed report.

• Are ready to sign a work agreement with a family, and commit long-term. They also can sign a separate NDA if needed.

The Process

Nanny and Domestic Placement Process Steps

Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency ? has developed a thorough 14 step placement process. This process ensures that our team is making the best placement possible for your family, and setting your family up for long-term success.

1. To initiate your search, you will fill out the application above. Once submitted, then proceed to pay the $350 registration fee via PayPal. (This fee is non-refundable and covers the background check and administrative costs to conduct your search).
2. After we receive your application and registration fee payment, we will send you a welcome email within 24 – 48 hours to set up a call to go over your family’s needs for a Nanny or Domestic placement search. During that intake call with a placement coordinator, we will go over your family’s unique needs, detailed information on how the process works, industry standards and legally paying your nanny and domestic employee, and other important information to set your search up for success.
3. Following that call, we will then send our client agreement over for review and e-sign if your family agrees to the terms of working with the agency. (This agreement goes over the process, terms and conditions, and our amazing one time replacement search guarantee for long-term placements.)
4. Upon signing the agreement, our team will craft a custom job description for your nanny search. We’ll then send the description to you via email for your review and approval.
5. Once your family approves the final draft of your job description, we’ll post it and begin your nanny search!
6. At this point, we will look into our database (which consists of thousands of local candidates) ?and see who, meets your needs, is available, and interested in your position. We also will recruit directly for your position. To ensure a comprehensive search, we utilize a multifaceted recruitment strategy. This includes our extensive database, a curated selection of relevant job boards, and targeted social media advertising tailored to each placement.
7. Once we identify candidates that best meets your needs, we will send nanny and domestic candidate profiles over via email for your family to review. We send these profiles on a rolling basis, as available.
8. After reviewing profiles, your family would then let the agency know whom you wish to interview. We will then coordinate interviews with the candidates of your choice. We are happy to accommodate both Zoom and in-person interviews, or just in-person interviews depending on your preference.
9. Upon completion of candidate interviews, your family will notify the agency of which candidate you would like to move forward with, and offer your position to.
10. Your family will let us know what your contingent offer is, and the agency will extend that offer to the candidate of your choice.
11. Once the candidate accepts the position, we will provide a copy of the nanny or domestic candidate’s reference report (in our pre-screening process, we call all references in-house and write a report for each candidate). We encourage families to proactively call references directly and have parent-to-parent conversations. In parallel, our agency initiates the most thorough nationwide background check available. To guarantee the most current information, we conduct the most comprehensive nationwide background check available once a contingent offer is accepted by the candidate. When the report is finalized, the full report is promptly delivered to your family for immediate review.
12. Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency ? provides each family with a work agreement template to use (we have tailored this agreement over the years to go over every detail of your expectations, offerings, and terms of employment). Your family is welcome to use the work agreement template to create a work agreement for your position, or provide one of your own. Upon completion of the work agreement by your family, your family will send it over to the agency. Then the agency will send the work agreement over to the candidate for review and e-signature.
13. Once the agreement is signed by both parties, the agency will invoice your family for the placement?. Paying the placement fee is the final step in placement.
14. We will then exchange contact information between the family and nanny. This will finalize the placement process.

Clients are solely responsible for hiring and terminating their employee, managing and overseeing employment, paying the employee , and providing the benefits outlined in the work agreement.
