Summer Activities To Do With Your Nanny Kids: Pre-schoolers, School-aged Children, and Teenagers

During the summer, the children are out of school and need to be engaged in fun and educational activities throughout each day. We know coming up with ideas to make each day unique can take a lot of thought and planning. So today we are featuring some fun activities you can do with your pre-school to teenage nanny kids or children this summer. We have come up with a list of activities for children ages pre-school, school-aged children, and teenagers.

For pre-school-age children, you can engage them in sensory activities such as play-doh, kinetic sand, playing in the water table (with adult supervision always), a rice sensory bin, and more. Preschoolers also love arts and crafts, and you can teach children about all kinds of things, such as letters, numbers, shapes, holidays, and more through arts and crafts. Also, the summer is a great time to get outdoors, go on a walk, and explore. You can do so many fun activities with children of this age. We hope these ideas help make the summer educational and fun for your nanny kids or children.

For school-age children this summer, we suggest creating theme weeks for the children such as ocean week, dance week, or olympics week. Create fun activities related to that week to do with the children inside and outside. This can include a craft, snack, backyard games, or special adventure to a museum or other child friendly place. There are also tons of interactive games and activities that you can do with the children to keep them active and engaged. These activities include scavenger hunts, obstacle courses and more. During the summer their are also alot of child friendly events such as events at local libraries, museums, farms, and places in the community. We recommend visiting for fun ideas of events going on each week to get ideas of fun activities you may be able to take your nanny kids to ( with prior parent permission of course).

For teens, the summer is a great time to find a place where you can go with them to volunteer and give back to the community. We have a list of charities we support in the area that may have some opportunities; visit this link to see where you may be able to give back: Charities we support. You can also organize times for them to get together with their friends, go to the YMCA or pool, go to the movies, visit the US National Whitewater Center, and other fun places in the area. The other idea would be to cook a meal or bake together.

Wether you are caring for pre-schoolers or teenagers we hope these ideas help you have a fun and engaging summer with your nanny kids.
